I am so super excited about this new pattern I am sharing with you today!!! This has been over a year in the making, when I made my first pair of slipper socks, then had several people ask for a pair when they saw them. I wanted a unique funky slipper pattern that I could wear around the house, but still be able to fit into a pair of boots if I needed to run outside or go pick up the kids from school. I can’t stand the feel of slouchy socks, and it makes me crazy when my boots ‘eat’ my socks while taking them off, so after a lot of tweaking and fine tuning, the Heart and Sole Slipper Sock is ready just in time for the deep freeze of our Canadian winter.

If you are anything like me, you may find your self “improvising” a lot with your crochet projects. This project is perfect for that, as there are so may ways to customize and play around with the pattern components to come up with something really unique!

I made it customizable in several ways:

  • These can be made as knee high socks, legwarmers, or ankle socks. For the knee high sock option, you simply follow the entire pattern as indicated. For legwarmers, you end off before the heel shaping section. For ankle socks, Begin with Round 36 and continue to the end of pattern.
  • Foot length is adjustable by adding or subtracting rounds in the indicated section.
  • The calf circumference can be made larger by loosening your tension (I crochet quite tight when I am making socks) or by using a larger hook. Keep in mind these have about 3″ of negative ease, which means they will stretch quite a bit. As written, the top portion of the sock measures 12″, which will fit up to a 15″ calf. When you are measuring for a custom size, make sure to subtract at least 2.5″ from your measurement to account for this negative ease. If you need some help with specific sizing, I am happy to help! Contact me here with any questions.
  • While I have incorporated colour changes into the pattern, they can be customized in any number or ways that are only limited by your imagination!
