We got our first official dusting of snow the other and there is a real wintery chill in the air, so if course I find myself reaching for cozy sweaters, chunky scarves and curling up with a book, some tea, and a warm blanket.
Naturally that means more frequent trips to the yarn shops, and lots of new projects!
On my most recent unnecessary absolutely essential yarn supply trip with my friend, we were drawn to the Caron Chunky Cupcakes and their pretty, fluffy pom poms, which are a huge upgrade from the tiny plain looking ones on the regular cupcakes. She picked one out in these gorgeous bright colours and asked me to make her a new toque. The bright colours reminded me of flower petals and since she always takes great photos of summer flowers in her travels, this yarn needed a pretty pattern to match!
I quite liked working with this yarn, even though its a bit stiff compared to the Caron Cakes, it is still nicer to use than Bernat Pop, and looks like it will wear nicer as well. I created this pattern with my dear friend in mind, and not only does it perfectly show off the gorgeous colours, it is quite roomy and stretchy.
